First Peoples Bank was founded by a group of visionary Harris County business leaders who recognized the need for a community bank dedicated to serving the local area. On December 31, 1987, the bank was officially granted its charter by the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance.

We opened our doors for business in Pine Mountain in 1990 with a dedicated team of fifteen employees. Our first expansion came in 1997 with the opening of a branch in Hamilton, followed by the construction of a modern, customer-focused facility in downtown Hamilton in 2013.

In 2015, First Peoples Bank acquired The Greenville Banking Company, the oldest continuously chartered bank in Georgia, originally established on January 1, 1887. This acquisition strengthened our presence and deepened our commitment to serving the financial needs of our community.

In 2024, First Peoples Bank added another milestone with the development of our branch in the Old Town community of Columbus, blending modern banking with the growing needs of the area.
